Hi Laure!

If you however needed aid with this question from yesterday here'due south how you divide fractions past whole numbers.

In this problem you would need to divide 1/two by iii and then...

 one

---   ÷   3

 2

 1                      1
---             =     ---
 2    *   3         6

When multiplying fractions by whole numbers you just multiple the denominator past the number.

So yous would simplify the fraction just in this case 1/6 is as simple as information technology would become.

ane/2 pound = 3X, where 10 represents each persons share of peanuts

X= (one/ii)/3, divide both sides past 3 to isolate 10.  Both 2 and iii are in the denominator so they must multiply together.

X= 1/half-dozen pound of peanuts

1/2  DIVIDED Past three, OR 1/2 x 1/3 = ane/6 pound each

to check: 1/6  + 1/6  + 1/6  =  3/half-dozen  or 1/ii pound
